Company Profile

Bauer

Bauer, based in Germany, is a 200 year- old company which is now building its first North American manufacturing headquarters in the United States. This facility is being built in the Conroe Industrial Park in Conroe, Texas. This campus will sit on 80 acres and will be built in phases, with the first phase being over 200,000 square feet. KDW, Ltd. is the design/builder and is working closely with ARCON Architects in developing this campus.

Bauer was founded in 1790 when Sebastian Bauer acquired a coppersmith’s shop in Schrobenhausen, Germany, which is northwest of Munich. Bauer is a specialist foundation engineering company that has been operating worldwide for decades. Bauer is an international provider of services, machinery, and ancillary products in the earth-working and groundwater fields. Bauer operates under three segments including Construction, Equipment, and Resources. A decentralized, networked organization allows Bauer to focus on and respond to the specific characteristics of the different markets.

With over 7,000 employees, Bauer has individuals from over 25 nations working on Bauer sites. The key factor of Bauer’s success has been the passing-on of expertise within the company. Although this is the first manufacturing facility in the U.S. for Bauer, the company has been shipping its products here for a number of years.

The design build team approach has been vital in the success of the project thus far. From a design standpoint, it has been very important to reflect the legacy and success of Bauer in the design of the facility. The team has used clean, low-maintenance materials arranged in modern, forward-thinking ways, reflecting the culture and heritage of Bauer.

It is extremely important to Bauer, that the topography of the land site be utilized in drainage and in providing an amenity for the company. Landscaping has been highly emphasized all over the campus. Much of the paving has been designed in a way that will allow for natural vegetation to be cut out and incorporated all around the campus.

Bauer uses environmentally sustainable design features and products in all of its facilities, and the Conroe facility will follow this path. Green building materials and daylight harvesting are just a couple examples of how sustainability is being accomplished with this project. Bauer is also incorporating a geothermal HVAC system into this facility. It is many of these features that will set this state of the art industrial facility apart from others.
