KDW constructed the first North American headquarters for Bauer Manufacturing. Bauer is one of the world's largest manufacturers of foundation equipment. The campus is located in the Conroe Industrial Park in Conroe, Texas just north of Houston and sits on 80 acres. The campus was built in phases with the first phase consisting of over 200,000 sf. KDW's design/build team approach was vital to the project's successful completion. The team used clean, low-maintenance materials arranged in modern, forward-thinking ways to reflect Bauer's distinct German culture and heritage.
"Bauer’s Mobil Drilling Rigs were so heavy we had to design and build the concrete slabs to withstand their loads; we accomplished this by establishing a 20 year baseline calculation for the distance each rig would travel across the plant, the end result, 12” thick select fill injected with 6% lime stabilization under a 12” thick concrete slab with metallic hardener."
