Sika Corporation Overview
- After months of due diligence, negotiations, careful planning and construction, Sika, a 107-year-old international manufacturer with more than 200 factories in 100 countries, has completed the first phase of a state-of-the-art manufacturing campus west of Houston in Sealy. Globally, Sika maintains a leading position in the development and production of systems and products for bonding, sealing, damping, reinforcing and protecting in the building sector and motor vehicle industry.
- The 40-acre site in Sealy has been master planned as a campus which will include multiple expansions. All phase-one utility systems were engineered and designed to support future stages of growth. A 70-foot tower with multi-story structural steel mezzanine houses the ViscoCrete Polymer manufacturing process. The Admixture area includes two semi-truck drive-thru lanes. Both processes are isolated with concrete tiltwalls and include containment provisions due to the H3 Occupancy classification. The Mortars process also has a 70-foot tower with manufacturing mezzanine and specialized equipment with robotic automation. Just outside the Mortars Tower sits an array of silos that reach almost 90 feet above the finished floor. All manufacturing align on one side of the plant and all warehousing and distribution align on the other for effective product flow.
- Phase one of the master plan included the design and construction of a new manufacturing plant with three product lines - one producing high-performance mortars and grouts, a second for high-performance ViscoCrete Polymers and a third yielding a wide range of liquid concrete admixtures. The office complex is designated for collaborative interaction with management, operations and sales teams, with laboratories and a training center to educate customers and applicators on Sika's technologies.
